Caffe Gelato Blog: Come to Our Flying Fish Beer Dinner on Thursday, September 27th!

Many popular breweries around the country today are centuries old – Budweiser with its humble beginnings in 1876, Miller in 1855, and Yuengling all the way back in 1829. But there’s one brewery that started much later, taking advantage of the emerging phenomenon of the World Wide Web. And it’s local, too! It was just past the border in Somerdale, New Jersey that Gene Muller founded the Flying Fish Brewing Company in 1996.

Flying Fish became one of the first “virtual microbreweries” of its kind, generating early web marketing and promotional materials. Muller created a monthly newsletter, designed labels, and produced a unique brewery for the digital age. Nowadays, the company boasts an array of flavors such as Farm House Summer Ale, Blueberry Honey Ale, Hopfish IPA, and Jersey Juice, as well as over 12,000 newsletter subscribers. Muller, an alum of Chicago’s Siebel Institute of Technology, now travels the world to showcase his work. Flying Fish has made appearances at the Great British Beer Festival, the Oregon Brewers Festival, and Canada’s Biere de Mondial Festival. But you don’t have to travel thousands of miles to get it – in just two weeks, Flying Fish will be hosting a Beer Dinner right here at Caffe Gelato!

On Thursday, September 27th, we’ll be hosting a “Flying Fish Beer Dinner” that no beer lover should miss. Featuring a 6-course meal with Braised Beef Short Rib, grilled gourmet sausages, a Milburn Orchard Spiced Apple Torte, and plenty of beer, this is certainly a night packed with flavor. Whether you’re a fan of a crystal malts in the Red Fish Ale or the more sophisticated IPA, you’ll love the rich, spicy flavor combinations of Flying Fish beer and our signature dishes. And you’ll get to meet Gene Muller in person!

The dinner starts at 6:30pm and reservations are $69 per person. Please call (302) 533-0201 to reserve or register online at
